How To Delay The Fulfillment of God’s Promises

This is a wake-up call. Maybe you have read my recent post but this is more. For lust is not only sexual, but it is a great craving towards anything you do not possess. You believe you need it but do you really? Have you already taken it by force? By seduction? If yes, what have you done, my sister? What have you done, my brother? Did God not warn you enough? Did He not tell you that it begins in your thoughts? Satan just has to put the right triggers here and there and voilà! Be watchful and pray, Jesus said, lest you fall into temptation and have a hard time coming out of its mouth (Matthew 26:41). Our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak. So what do we do? We come to God, for He is strong where we are weak. Yes, null self-reliance is where we are headed to. Only the Spirit of Christ in us! We have to learn to walk by the Spirit everyday.

Who are the people you surround yourself with? Did you know the Israelites did not have to spend 40 years in the wilderness? What caused the delay? I ran across this bible verse a few days ago, it is incredible:

Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain. “Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed.

Numbers 11:4

The people we surround ourselves with are important. Sometimes we have no choice, it can be family. That person may know God less than you do and he or she may try to bring you back to the old cycle again and again. This is why it is crucial to guard our hearts and to build our own relationship with Christ! The people of Israel had the same lust in them, they were just holding it back. As soon as the rabble started voicing their complaints, they became like horses without reins.

We have to remain vigilant, people of God! I recommend you read Numbers 11-14 to see how the people of God provoked Him again and again AFTER seeing all the signs and wonders and still seeing them everyday. God did not strike immediately but He gave them warning signs (Numbers 11:1). Their stubborn unbelief in His love and provision, their lust towards the things they did not have in that moment (but had in the past) drove them towards death and destruction. Prolonged years of suffering. This is what lust does! Leave a crack open and you find yourself in a miserable state again and again.

Please do not turn your back toward God any longer! Run to Him, run as fast as you can! Fall on your knees before Him and ask for true repentance, for you to know the truth. If you humble yourself before Him, He will rescue you from the snares of the enemy. My friend, please listen! Faith comes by hearing and faith produces obedience. God loves you. He loves you, He knows you deeply and He sees you. He protects you, His love is unwavering towards you. He is God, and He has so many good thoughts for you if only you would listen! I really do not want any of us to miss the abundance of life by craving after that which the Lord has never meant to be ours. If we had really needed it, He would have given it to us. So instead of being angry at Him for not giving you that, why don’t you start questioning yourself if you really need it?

Jesus is our only hope. Through Him we learn to walk by the Spirit. This very Spirit lives in us and breathes in us. He helps us live our lives in intimate friendship with the Father. Whatever it is, seek God and you will find Him, exactly in those areas where you are the weakest. Do it wholeheartedly, and you will grow exponentially for He is a rewarder of faith! I pray that everyone who reads this will receive the measure of grace God has for them. Ask for grace, ask for more! May you see the light before you, guiding you with love and devotion. That light, my friend, is in you and all around you. Amen.
