The Great Temptation and Escaping the Snare

Hello everyone,

I re-wrote this post today (Jan 24, 2023) because God gave me a warning several days ago that there is a great temptation in the world to wander away from faith. Remain in His love, brothers and sisters!

Lust is a great craving towards anything you wish would happen soon, in the way you want. The second part is important because you can be given a desire by God but strive to make it happen your way; you would not have it otherwise. God loses His shine in light of the thing you desire. When was the last time you smiled just at His tender presence?

The Bible tells us to walk according to the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5; Romans 8). When we lust after things instead of just receiving from God, we wander away from faith. We try to make things happen by force or manipulation, even towards God. We won’t wait patiently. The countermeasure is faith in the eternal life given to us by grace through Jesus; it is shown in keeping ourselves from idols and ceasing to sin further; the enemy cannot touch such people with faith (1. John 5). You can lust after your own healing and deliverance before God says you’re ready. You can rush ahead of Him and hurt yourself. That is another way this temptation can come through. Listen, friend: He loves you and He will not let you take His glory. He will not make it happen too soon, in a way that you end up wandering away from faith, too, giving you room to boast about yourself. When condemnation tries to creep in, say this prayer out loud: Thank you, God, for covering me with the blood of Your Son. You loved me when I was your enemy still, and Your love is not changing because I’m going deeper with my own heart and realizing what I’ve been doing. Thank you for gentle correction. Help me rest in Your love today. Come, Holy Spirit. Our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak. Show us Your might, we rely fully on You. Perfect us and help us walk with You everyday. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Guard your heart and build your own relationship with Christ –

Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain. “Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed.

Numbers 11:4

Watch what you hear! Come before God with thanksgiving and be still before Him, pray for surrender. If we humble ourselves before Him, He will rescue us from the snares of the enemy. God loves you. He loves you, He knows you deeply and He sees you. He protects you, His love is unwavering towards you. He is God, and He has only good thoughts for you! We can just receive. If we had really needed it right now, He would have given it to us. Instead of being angry or anxious, we can choose to sit at the feet of Jesus and put our faith in Him!

Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.

The Lord God is my strength;
He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills.

(Habakkuk 3:17-19)
